Reflections continued....
Another composition that I listened to was "Allegro Non Moto," a musical piece that is also from the "Four Seasons" musical suite that Antonio Vivaldi composed. Though this was from the same musical suite, the music elements that were used along with the pictures and colours that I visualized were very different.
At first, when the musical piece started to play, the first thought that popped into my mind was: "Wow, this is going to be utterly boring". The reason that I thought this was because of the fact that the composition started out to be very mezzo piano (moderately soft) and had a very "Largo" (slow) pace as well. The pitch during the beginning was "Tessitura." With all these music elements combined, this composition seemed very boring and old-fashioned! Nevertheless, I was still able to form a vivid picture/scene in my head. This scene took place during the Medieval Times, in a palace, where a woman and a man both from royal families, were slow dancing at a masquerade. I think that this scene would fit the style of the music because of the fact that the music sounded somewhat peaceful and romantic and the scene that I pictured was romantic and peaceful as well. As the music composition continued, the elements changed. The dynamics went from "Mezzo Piano" to Mezzo Forte" with the pitch going from just "Tessitura" to "High Tessitura". The tempo also changed. It went from a "Largo" pace to a "Moderato" pace. After the music elements changed, the music sounded a little more exciting and interesting. In fact the scene that I visualized was also a little more interesting as well. This scene was of a figure skater doing backflips on the ice with an audience watching intently. Near the end, the tempo went from a "Moderato" pace to a "Presto" pace and the pitch went from "High Tessitura" to just "Tessitura". (The dynamics stayed the same.) After the change, the music became much more thrilling and even groovy! The picture that was formed into my head was of a man and a woman doing the salsa, at an extremely fast pace! To be honest this scene was actually quite hilarious! I really think that Vivaldi out-did himself when he composed this composition!
In addition, to being able to visualize pictures and scenes, I was able to visualze several different colours as well! For example: During the beginning of the composition, I visualized the colour pink everywhere, because the music sounded romantic, and pink represents love! As the music continued, I visualized the colour (or should I say shade) white, with sparkles. I visualized this particular colour/shade because the music chnaged from romantic to somewhat thrilling and interesting, and white, with sparkles is pretty interesting if you ask me! Besides visualizing pink and white (with sparkles) I pictured the colour red as well. The reason that I visualized this colour is because as the music was ending it became more groovy, and red along with representing an energetic feeling is also a colour that represents grooviness! At least that's what I think.
Though, this musical piece captured my interest, it did not inspire me to write a story. Why? Well, to be honest I don't really know!
