Antonio Vivaldi took the
first step as a musician, in the year 1703, when he
pursued a career as the "Maestro Di Violino" (a violin teacher) in the Ospedale
Della Pieta, a prestigous female orphanage and school. He wrote many concertis
(an instrumental composition) that he practiced with his students. These complex
compositions helped improve the musical skills of the females greatly, and often
gave Antonio time to improve his skills as well. The reason that Antonio was
able to improve his skills , is because of the fact that he was given the
opportunity to compose many different concertis which gave him a lot of
practice. Though, Antonio was very helpful as a violin teacher, his career was
short-lived for, in 1709 he left this job. However, the reasons as to why are
unclear. In the year 1716 Antonio Vivaldi started working at the Ospedale Della
Pieta once again, however this time, as the director of instrumental music,
which meant that he would be in charge of conducting and directing the
instrumental compositions that were to be played in the school/orphanage. This
position, probably gave Antonio a very good out-look on how difficult things
were in the music industry, because in order to make sure that the performances
went well, he would have to mind every little detail. After one year of working
as a Director of instrumental music he left thsi
job as well. (Once again the reasons as to why are unclear, however it is
believed that Antonio wanted to devote more time to composing musical pieces.)
Yet again, in the year 1723 Antonio returned to the Ospedale Della Pieta with
the occupation of and External Supplier of composiitons. This position in the
orphange/school was where Antonio would compose several musical pieces for a
variety of occasions including when school orchestra would have to perform.
Apparently Antonio found this job to be of interest and worth his time, because
he occupied this position for seven years, before leaving. It seemed like
Antonio could not get enough of of the orphanage/school for, in the year 1735 he
returned to the Ospedale Della Pieta, and once again took up the job of a
Director of instrumental music. However, why he returned to this particular
position is unknown. No one can determine why Antonio would would want to be in
charge of directing performances instead of composing music, for that was
believed to be his real passion. In the year 1738 Antonio vivaldi once again
left his job, and in 1739 he took up the position of an external supplier of
compositions until 1740. The reason as to why Antonio Vivaldi kept coming back
to the same place was unclear, however it is somewhat believed that he grew
attached to it since this was where his first job as a musician was. Overall,
Antonio Vivaldi's music career was mainly spent in the Ospedale Della Pieta.
Though no one knows exactly why he would choose to work there repeatedly,
Antonio Vivaldi sure did make a difference.
Besides,
working in the Ospedale Della Pieta, Antonio Vivaldi continued his career as a
composer and violinist all around Italy. It was in the year 1713 that he made
his debut as a composer, when he created his first opera performance ("Ottone in
villa") in Vincenza. After his debut, in the year 1718 he continued to tour all
around Italy visiting Vienna, Prague and Amsterdam, and performing several
different operas and concertos. Did you know that in total, Antonio Vivaldi
composed 500 instrumental concertos, with 230 of them including the violin?!
Antonio was a legend all around the world and was fairing very well in the music
industry, in fact in the year 1722, he moved to Rome, and was invited by Bendict
Xlll (the new pope at that time) to play the violin and various compositions for
him. 1725 was the year that Antonio Vivaldi composed and wrote his most famous
musical suites of all time- The "Four Seasons". This suite consisted of various
different concertos of music. ANTONIO VIVALDI WILL BE REMEMBERED FOR HIS SUCCES
AND DEDICATION AS A COMPOSER AND VIOLINIST!
