Now, we all know that Antonio Vivaldi was a famous composer in his time, however the remaining of his life is a great mystery to many of us. After doing a lot of thorough research I have have discovered and found out about Antonio Vivaldi's life and I am sharing this information with the rest of you curious music fanatics:
July 28th, 1741 was indeed a very tragic date (in the history of composing music) for, one of the world's most talented music composers, Antonio Vivaldi passed away. He was born in the year 1678 on March 4th, specifically two years after his parents' ( whose names were Giovanni Battista Vivaldi and Camilla Calicchio) marriage took place in 1676. When he was born, Antonio was not quite as healthy as a baby should have been. In fact he experienced several health problems, including Bronchitis (an infection that is contagious to others and includes coughing, fevers and wheezing) and chest tightness. Antonio's parents then had him baptized (a catholic tradition/event) because they believed that his poor health was a sign of danger, and they wanted to ensure that no harm would come his way. Antonio's parents were among those who believed that illness at a very early age meant that "demons" were taking over the baby's body, and that baptisim was the only way to get rid of these demons. Quite a few years after his birth, Antonio's mother became pregnant eight more times thus, making Antonio the older brother of eight siblings specifically, four brothers and four sisters. Not much is known about Antonio's siblings (other then the fact that none of them pursued a musical career) because, of the fact that they were barely mentioned by Antonio. Therefore, facts like the exact date of their birth, their names or even the names of their schools are not known. In order to make sure that his family didn't have to worry about not being able to afford the everyday necessities such as food, shelter and clothing, Giovanni Battista Vivaldi (as previously mentioned, the father and husband of this family) worked as a barber, while his wife took care of the household. However, once Giovanni started playing the violin, he developed a strong passion for this instrument and therefore, in the year 1685 he quit his job as a barber and pursued a career, as a professional violinist at the St. Mark's Basilica. Later on in the year 1703 when Antonio was 25 years old, his parents had him appointed as a priest. The reason for this, was because the training and education for this type of job was free. Even though their father worked as a violinist he did not recieve enough money to send his children to proper schools. - Besides the fact that Antonio had quite a few health problems and was one of the most successful composers at that time, Antonio and his family lived a peaceful and happy life. What happened to Antonio's family After his unfortunate death is unknown.
